Men's Basketball Drops Tight Affair to Immaculata

Scranton, Pa. - Visiting Immaculata University held off Marywood University for an 80-75 win Saturday. The victory puts the Mighty Macs two games ahead of the Pacers in league standings.

Immaculata moved to 7-12 (3-4 Atlantic East) while the Pacers fell to 6-14 (1-6).

Jason Holman led Marywood with a team-high 22 points. Three other Pacers reached double digits in the loss. Holman's 22, which came on 9 of 14 shooting, was a career high. He also grabbed a career-high 13 boards to complete the first double-double of his career.

Donovan Catchings' 11 assists set a new single game record for the Pacers.

Jordan Ambrose led the Mighty Macs with a game-high 25 point effort.

The Pacers were held to just above 32% (10 of 31) shooting in the first half, resulting in a one-point, 30-29 deficit at the break.

Despite shooting 50% from the floor in the second stanza, the Pacers could not complete the comeback.  Immaculata was also cold in the first half (36.7% from the floor) but also warmed up in the second, hitting at a nearly 52% clip.

The game saw five lead changes, but Marywood's last came as Adam Boussatta opened the second half with a lay-in to give Marywood a 31-30 lead. Down by as many as 15 with 7:35 to go in the second, the Pacers cut the lead down to one (70-69) with 2:11 to go.  Again trailing by one (72-71) with 1:37 to play, Immaculata's quick 5-0 run gave them enough cushion to finish the Pacers off.

Tom DeFilippo (16), Boussatta (11) and Catchings (10) all joined Holman in double digits for the Pacers.

Marywood travels to Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday looking to snap their three game slide.  Tip-off in Gwynedd Valley is set for 8:00 pm.
