Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Boussatta Records Career High in Loss to Gwynedd Mercy

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - Despite a career high 28 points from Adam Boussatta, Marywood University's men's basketball fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 93-74 Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Pacers to 6-15 (1-7 Atlantic East).

Gwynedd Mercy (15-5, 6-1) kept within a half game of league-leading Wesley (7-1 AEC) with the 19 point victory. They were led by Rich Dunham's game-high 29 point effort. Both teams placed four players in double digits.

The host Griffins outscored Marywood 46-16 in the paint and their bench outscored Marywood's 40-5. The Griffins shot 51.5% for the night to Marywood's 34.9%, and had a 29-7 advantage in fast break points. Marywood was out-rebounded, 45-34.

Marywood led 24-23 midway through the first half, but a 13-1 run over the next five minutes by the hosts provided the cushion the Griffins would need for the win. Gwynedd would go into the break up by 12, 47-35.

The Pacers were only able to cut the Griffins' lead to single digits once in the second half, as a trey from Boussatta would make it 68-60 with 7:33 to go. Gwynedd Mercy answered with a three of their own to go back up 11, and kept that double-digit lead until the final buzz

Jason Holman recorded 13 points in the loss for Marywood, while Jack DeGroot and Tom DeFilippo both had 11.

After a weekend off, Marywood travels to Radnor to face Cabrini in a pivotal AEC matchup next Wednesday.  Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
