Marywood Trounces Wesley, Secures Playoff Berth

Scranton, Pa. - Aryah Aungst and Savannah Purdy each scored 21 points, with Purdy's all coming in the first half, as Marywood secured their 12th straight post-season playoff spot with a 93-59 trouncing of Wesley College Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East action.

Marywood moved to 8-13 (4-6) with the win while the Wolverines fell to 6-16 and remain winless in the league (0-10).

Allison Bashore (16 points) joined Aungst - who had eight board and six steals as well - and Purdy in double digits. Jourdyn Beverly led the way for the visitors with 13 points off the bench. Shervohnia Tolson had 10.

The Pacers shot 50% (33 of 66) from the floor and 42.9% (12 of 28) from three point range. They also went 15 of 20 (75%) from the charity stripe. Marywood built an eight point (25-17) lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 54-30 lead going into halftime.  

Purdy was 8 of 10 from the floor and 4 of 5 from three point land in her 21 minutes of action. Marywood scored 42 points off 27 turnovers while only committing 14 miscues of their own.

Marywood and Head Coach Jen Carleton honored three seniors in Aungst, Olivia Kosin (8 points) and Lexi Osborne (3 points) prior to Saturday's game.

Marywood will not look to jockey playoff position over their final two league games in the regular season, starting with a 6:00 pm matchup against Neumann University Wednesday in Scranton.
