Pacers Pound Presidents 18-4 in Clearwater

Clearwater, Fla. - Marywood University stayed unblemished on the 2019 women's lacrosse season with an 18-4 victory over Washington and Jefferson College in Clearwater, Fla. With their fourth win, the Pacers have their best start to a season in program history.

Four Marywood players finished with four-point efforts. Gina Babcock led the Pacers with four goals and three ground balls. Gwyneth Gleason provided three goals and an assist, adding in four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Molly Yelencsics posted two goals and two assists with a team-high three caused turnovers. Ashley King factored in with three assists and a goal, tacking on four ground balls.

Brielle Peters recorded her first career hat trick. Mikayla Matthews also registered a career-best performance with two goals and an assist.

Abbie Laime found the net twice, and Maddy Langlotz generated a goal and an assist.

On the other end of the field, Melanie Wittick logged four ground balls and four draw controls into the box score. Emily Dyminski recorded her fourth with four stops and three ground balls.

Marywood (4-0) outshot Washington & Jefferson by a 39-11 margin. The Pacers committed just 10 giveaways to the Presidents' 22. Marywood cleared 75 percent of its 20 opportunities, and Washington & Jefferson was held to just a 9 of 15 clip.

The Pacers won the ground ball game with a resounding 28-13 advantage. The Presidents clipped the Pacers 14-10 in draws.

Sarah Labovitz had a hand in all four Presidents goals with three goals and an assist.

Babcock ignited the Pacers from the opening whistle with a pair of goals in the first 3:02. After Peters put in a King feed for a 3-0 lead, Washington & Jefferson found the net on its first shot by Labovitz to cut the Pacers' advantage to 3-1 at the 25:10 mark.

From there, the Pacers rattled together eight consecutive goals. Matthews one-timed a Yelencsics pass for an unstoppable shot that increased the Pacers lead to 20:04 with her first of the season. King succeeded that by charging the circle and overhanding a hard shot off the turf.

Marywood is idle until Wednesday morning when it faces Swarthmore College in a battle of two 4-0 teams at Joe DiMaggio Field in Clearwater, Fla.
