King's Edges Marywood in 2OT

Wilkes-Barre Township, Pa. - Host King's College scored at the final buzzer of the second overtime period to hand visiting Marywood University a heartbreaking 2-1 loss Sunday afternoon.  The win moves the Monarchs to 4-8 on the year while the Pacers slip to .500 at 7-7.

As the second overtime clock ticked down, Lexi Prowker dribbled down the right sideline for the Monarchs and fired a cross in from the endline that Sara Whitesell touched in for the game-winner. Marywood had several chances in overtime off penalty corners, as did the hosts, but no one could break the tie until Prowker played hero with her fourth tally of the year.

King's went up just 39 seconds into the game when Emma Clark scored off a left side pass from Danielle Runo.

The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the hosts until the fourth quarter, when Marywood's Corrin Hasty took a feed from the right wing off the stick of Lauren Youngken and knocked it into the left post 1:08 into the fourth.

For the game, Marywood outshot King's 38-20 and placed 30 shots on goal to 13 for King's. However, Monarch netminder Ellie Glatz came up with 28 big saves in the win. Marywood's Rachel Yohn made eight saves in 70 minutes of action while Gabriella Pimentel made one stop in 10 minutes of action.

Marywood returns to Atlantic East Conference action Wednesday when they host Immaculata University at 4:00 pm.
