Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Suffers First Home Setback Since 2018

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University suffered the first field hockey loss on its home turf in three seasons Saturday in a 6-1 setback to No. 4 Kean University. Additionally, the Pacers' four-game winning streak came to a halt.

The Pacers had won 17 consecutive games on Pacers Field. The last Marywood loss came in the 2018 regular season finale versus Misericordia University.

Lauren Youngken scored the lone Pacers' goal. In the 27th minute, Youngken hit a hard shot into traffic that deflected off a defender and into the cage.

The Cougars' Jordan Thompson finished with two goals and an assist.

Kean (12-0) went ahead 84 seconds into regulation. On a penalty corner, Morgan Stump retrieved a save and fired a shot from 10 yards away to the left post.

Kean outshot the Pacers by a 16-7 margin and a 12-2 advantage on target. Despite the score, Marywood (6-4) had a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Both Marywood goalkeepers – Gabriella Pimentel and Rachel Yohn – had three saves.

Marywood looks to begin a new winning streak Wednesday when Atlantic East Conference play begins at Cabrini University.
