Volleyball Thumps Immac to Improve to Third in AEC

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University dominated Immaculata University in a 3-0 victory Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference volleyball. The Pacers remain in third place with a 10-15, 3-1 AEC record. 

Marywood defeated the Mighty Macs by scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-20. The Pacers committed just 10 errors for the match with a .282 attack percentage. 

Shannon Corr sports a double-double 11 kills and 13 digs. She committed just two errors for a .333 attack percentage. Casey Hagerstrom matched her with 13 points. Hagerstrom had an errorless night with 10 kills and a .500 attack percentage. 

Fresh off her school record-breaking weekend, Sara Burgos added to her career total with 36 assists. She added a team-best 14 digs for her 11th double-double of the season. Donna Bostjancic matched her wth 14 digs. 

Annie Heyen contributed 11 digs, and Mikayla Meek provided nine digs and six kills. 

Immaculata received 22 digs from McKenna Ryan. 

In the first set, Marywood countered a 4-2 deficit with a eight-point run of Bostjancic serves. The Pacers set sail from the opening serve in the second set with six unanswered points on Heyen serves. 

Just like the first set, Bostjancic engineered a seven-point run to take a 7-3 advantage. Trailing with 23-9, Immaculata won nine straight points on Emily Ettien serves to move within five points. Libby Smith had the last two points on a pair of kills to close out the victory. 

Marywood heads to Arlington, Virginia Saturday to take on Marymount University and University of Mary Washington.
