Men's Soccer Draws with Cyclones on the Road

Hackettstown, N.J. — Marywood University secured a 1-1 draw against Centenary University Saturday in Atlantic East Conference men's soccer action. The Pacers outshot their opponent for the sixth time in seven games.

Richard Fuchs scored the Pacers' lone goal with 24 second remaining in the first half. Fuchs controlled a throw-in into the box and delivered a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage.

The Cyclones found their equalizer just seconds before the regulation clock expired. With just 28 seconds remaining, Brandon Salmon punched home a cross from Matt Paterno to send the game into overtime.

In the first overtime period, Hunter Iverson had a shot saved by Andrew Tarkazikis in the 92nd minute. Pacers' keeper ryan Russo stopped a bottom-left chance in the 97th minute, and Ryan Raffino's shot on goal in the 98th was also stifled by Tarkazikis.

Playing a man-up, Centenary's Joseph Ertl had a last-chance effort at a game-winning goal that was stopped by Russo as time expired.

Marywood doubled the Cyclones in both shots (18-9) and shots on goal (10-5). The Pacers had a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Russo finished with four saves.

Marywood remains in sixth place with a 2-9-2 overall and 1-3-1 conference mark. The Pacers need a win in their regular season finale versus Neumann University on Wednesday to force a three-way tie between the Pacers, Cyclones and Knights for the fourth through sixth seeds.
