Field Hockey Locks No. 4 Seed with 5-0 Shutout over Neumann

Aston, Pa. — Marywood University secured a home game in the first round of the Atlantic East Conference field hockey playoffs with a 5-0 shutout over Neumann University Wednesday in the regular season finale. The Pacers enter the postseason as the No. 4 seed in the six-team playoff tournament.

Marywood will host No. 5 Immaculata University Saturday at 1 p.m. on Pacers Field.

Lauren Youngken finished with a hat trick. Youngken added an assist to her total to finish with seven points for the contest.

Mackenzie Hoats scored a goal and an assist. Cassie Slusser had a goal.

The Pacers' defense held the Knights without a shot. Marywood outshot Neumann by a 25-0 margin and had an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners.

In the fourth minute, Youngken gave the team a 1-0 lead. Grace LePage took a free hit quickly and crossed the ball into the circle. Youngken shelved it into the far-corner of the cage. Just 48 seconds before the end of the first quarter, she added her second after Hoats dribbled baseline and fed to Youngken to set up the goal.

The pair traded places on the box score seven minutes later. Hoats tipped in a Youngken shot to extend the lead to three. In the 26th minute, Slusser collected a rebound off her own shot and put it past the netminder.

Youngken punctuated her hat trick in the 34th minute. Lahr tipped a cross that was inevitably knocked in by Youngken.

Lexi Everett had a defensive save for the Knights.

Marywood keeper Gabriella Pimentel logged a clean sheet. Megan Frame made 15 saves in front of the frame.
