Swimming Splits with Wilkes

Women dominate, men edged by one point

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University's swimming and diving programs split with Wilkes University Saturday afternoon as the women won handily, 113-38, while the men fell to the Colonels by one point, 89-88.

The women's 400 medley relay team took an uncontested opening heat in 4:38.36. Mackenzie Blithe picked up points for Marywood with a 12:59.20 time in the 1000 free, and Olivia Fryer's 2:24.66 in the 200 free also kept Marywood ahead.

Sabrina Zieger won the 400 IM in 5:11.68 while Samantha Peck was victorious in the 200 butterfly in 2:26.21. Fryer continued her winning ways int he 100 free, finishing first in 1:04.11, while Zieger picked up her second win, this time in the 500 free, by finishing in 5:56.01. Peck also earned a second win on the afternoon in the 200 breaststroke, touching first in 2:44.85. The women's 400 freestyle relay team closed the meet with a win in a time of 4:19.91.

On the men's side, the meet came down to Wilkes picking up an uncontested win in the 400 freestyle relay. Marywood's 400 medley relay team won the opening event in 4:02.77, while Camereon Gorman won the 200 free in 1:56.62.

Marywood also got wins from Dylan Hervieux in the 400 IM (4:44.59) and Groman in the 100 free (52.32). Hervieux won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:16.87 and Jason Lee was first in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.61).

The women return to action November 6 at Cedar Crest for their Atlantic East opener with the Falcons and Marymount University while the men will just take on Marymount at Cedar Crest.
