Second Half Marymount Goals Sink Pacers

Scranton, Pa. - Visiting Marymount University (Va.) used two second half goals to secure a come-from-behind win over Marywood University in Saturday afternoon Atlantic East Conference men's soccer action.

Danny Gomez scored for the Pacers, who fell to 0-8-1 (0-2 AEC). The Saints improved to 5-6-1 (1-0 AEC). For the game, the visitors outshot the Pacers 11-8 (8-4 on goal).

Gomez tallied the first goal of the game in the 13th minute of action. David Chemidlin served in a beautifully played ball from mid off a direct kick that Gomez put home for his second of the year.

The Pacers' lead would hold through halftime, but Leonardo Torres knotted things up for the Saints in the 52nd minute off a helper from Reece Ventura. Ventura crossed the ball from the endline right in front of the net for an easy tap-in for Torres.

At the 80-minute mark, Manny Gaunaurd dribbled around some defenders and fired home the winning goal for Marymount. Despite playing up one man for the final 35 and up two men for the final three minutes, Marywood could not find the equalizer.

The game saw three red cards for the Saints and one for the Pacers, along with numerous yellows. Marymount held a 5-3 advantage in corners.

Alex Russo made a game-high six stops for Marywood.

Marywood travels to Brooklyn Wednesday to take on Pratt Institute in the Pacers' final non-conference tilt of the season. Kickoff at Aviator Sports Center is set for 6:30 pm.
