Pacers Defeat Devils for First Win of the Season

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham 51-48 for its first women's basketball victory of the season. The Pacers improve to 1-2 on the season.

Stephanie Klemick led the Pacers with 14 points. Klemick made a pair of jump shots in the closing minutes to put Marywood ahead. Klemick's eight blocks break a single-game school record.

Savannah Purdy reached double figures with 13 points. Kilie Wyers finished with 10 rebounds, and Bethany Maby provided eight boards.

FDU-Florham had 12 rebounds from both Anissa Arteaga and Arian Coleman. Jocelyn Rock netted a team-high 14 points. 

Jade Rolon made a layup on an assist from Bethany Maby to even the score at 46-46 with 2:52 remaining. Klemick made a pair of jump shots to build a four-point lead (50-46) with less than 90 seconds remaining. 

The Devils halved the deficit to one possession with a Kiley Drezek layup in the paint with 12 seconds remaining. After Marywood missed both ends of a trip to the charity strip, The Devils were unable to put a pair of shots into the basket. Marywood sealed the win with a team rebound and a Rolon free throw. 

Marywood won the turnover margin by a 25-12 ratio. The Pacers had 20 points off turnovers to the Devils' eight.
