Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls to PSU Abington

Scranton, Pa. - Jason Holman had a game-high 17 points but it was not enough as Marywood University men's basketball fell to Penn State Abington 55-43 in the consolation game of the Electric City Classic, presented by P.W. Washo, Inc.

Holman was named to the All-Tournament team for the Pacers, who fell to 2-4 with the loss. Brendan Franco joined Holman in double figures with an 11-point performance.

Marywood shot just 34% from the floor and 15.8% from three point range in the loss. Alex Salata led the Lions with 16 points. Penn State Abington did not shoot much better from the field (36%) or three point range (26.3%) but were 10 of 12 from the charity stripe. Penn State's bench outscored Marywood's 17-4.

After falling behind 2-0 right after the tip, the Lions hit a three and never lost the lead again. Marywood tied the game up twice later in the first half, but could never take the lead. Tied 12-12 at the 13:42 mark of the first half, the visitors used a 6-0 run over a four-plus minute span to take control. The Lions would go up by as many as nine in the first half, and took a seven point 29-22 lead into the locker room.

The Lions would carry around a 10-point lead for much of the second half until Marywood was forced to foul several times in the final minutes, where Penn State Abington would sink most of their freebies and go up by as much as 16.

Marywood returns to the hardcourt Tuesday with a trip to nearby Wilkes University. Tip-off in the Martz Center is set for 7:00 pm.
