Women's Indoor Track & Field Returns to Competition at Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, Pa. — Marywood University returned to women's indoor track and field competition for the first time in 21 months Saturday at the Susquehanna Early Season Invitational. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pacers had not competed since the AARTFC Championships in March 2020.

The reigning Atlantic East Conference Out Track Athlete and Rookie of the Year, Maryam Hamidi returned to form by notching the second-fastest 400 time in school history. Hamidi placed fourth with a 1:06.73 that established a new personal record.

Caitlin Mills reached the record books in two events. Clocking in at a time of 8.59 seconds, Mills' ninth place finish in the 60 dash was the fourth-quickest in school history. Mills was eighth place in the long jump, recording a distance of 14 feet, 10 3/4 inches (4.54m).

Awnshaé Smith registered the top performance of the day with a second-place finish in the 60 hurdles. Smith crossed the finish in 9.98 seconds. She also took fifth in the triple jump (10.25m), sixth in the high jump (1.37m) and seventh in the long jump (4.65m).

Making her track debut, Milana Straub ran the fourth-best mile at Marywood. Straub came in sixth place with a time of 5:50.25. She was seventh in the 3K at 11:33.17.

Brianna Roth posted a personal record with the third-best high jump mark. Roth cleared 4 feet, 6 inches (1.37m) to take sixth place.

Marywood recorded a pair of Top 5 marks in the throws. Rosalyn Page scored the fourth-best shot put distance in school history; her throw measured at 33-8 (10.26m) to take third place at the meet. Kristen Persico took fourth place in the weight throw with a distance of 36-7.75 (11.17m) that went down as the third-best at Marywood. She also claimed a shot put personal record with a 31-5.75 (9.59m) measure.

Marywood is idle until after the new year.
