Aston, Pa. - Marywood University closed its men's lacrosse regular season with a 12-4 loss to Neumann University Wednesday night. The Pacers qualify for the Atlantic East Conference playoffs in early May with their playoff seed to be determined.
The Knights (5-3, 4-2 AEC) moved ahead of the Pacers in the playoff hunt. The Pacers (3-5, 3-3 AEC) were kept to four goals, and the Knights boosted their chances with the five-goal run in the first half to take an 8-2 advantage.
Jeff Johnsen led the Marywood scorers with a pair of goals.
Zach Vaughan provided a goal and an assist. He helped his team's cause with nine ground balls.
In goal, Connor Reed made 15 saves and added five ground balls.
Neumann outshot the Pacers by a 47-32 margin. The Knights were dominant in ground balls (58-31) and faceoffs (16-4).
Both the Knights and Pacers await the rest of the conference's slate to determine playoff seeding and matchups. The first round kicks off on May 1.
