Radnor, Pa. - Trailing 2-0 headed into their last at-bats, Marywood University rallied for a 3-2 win over Gwynedd Mercy University in their opening game of "Pod B" in the Atlantic East Conference Softball Tournament. The Pacers (9-7) would later drop a 11-0 decision to #2 seed Cabrini in five innings.

Rae Hatala singled to right center to open the scoring for the Pacers in the top of the seventh, scoring Kristie Epler who entered as a pinch runner and had moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Abbey Stalter reached on a fielder's choice and throwing error led to Sarah Sharp scoring the tying run. Then, Annie Heyen got an RBI groundout to short that scored Emily Rose to put Marywood up 3-2.

After allowing a hit to start the inning, Marywood got an out on a sac bunt that moved the tying run into scoring position, and after a walk the Pacers got a strikeout and groundout to end the game.

Gwynedd Mercy scored both of their runs on back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the first. Mia Hamm (4-3) went the distance on the mound, striking out six. Heyen was 2-for-4 with an RBI

Cabrini 11, Marywood 0

After grabbing a 2-0 lead through three innings of play, the Cavaliers exploded for nine runs in the top of the fourth, putting the game out of reach. Heyen, Sierra Mulgrew and Becca Zayle had Marywood's three hits in the loss. Gianna Marsico (5-3) allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in the loss. Kelly McKenna pitched the final 1.1 innings for the third-seeded Pacers.

Marywood and Cabrini will face off tomorrow at 12:00 pm. The Pacers must defeat the Cavaliers, who are 2-0 in the pod, two times in order to advance to next weekend's Championship series.
