Field Hockey Rallies to Top Oneonta State

Cydney Lahr scores two goals and an assist

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University rallied to score three unanswered goals to down Oneonta State 3-1 Saturday in non-conference field hockey action. The Pacers trailed by one goal before the second-half comeback.

Cydney Lahr finished with two goals and an assist. Amanda Leeland posted a pair of assists.

Lahr scored the game-winning goal when she converted a penalty stroke in the 54th minute.

After allowing an early goal, Marywood found an equalizer when Lahr scored in the 37th minute. Off of a penalty corner, Amanda Leeland delivered a ball forward that Lahr tapped in front of the cage for a third-quarter goal.

In the fourth quarter, Marywood found itself in a woman-up situation when a forward was fouled in front of the cage. Lahr took the penalty stroke to give Marywood a 2-1 advantage.

The Pacers added an insurance goal less than 90 seconds later on a penalty corner opportunity. Sara Thomas scored on a goal from 10 yards out on a chance that was double-assisted by Leeland and Lahr.

Marywood had a 9-5 advantage in shots and tripled the Red Dragons (9-3) in shots on goal. The Pacers outnumbered Oneonta 11-3 in penalty corners.

It was a tale of two halves for the Pacers. Marywood produced nine of its 11 penalty corners and seven of its nine shots in the second half.

The Pacers (3-3) welcome Wilkes University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
