Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University's Esports team inaugural season opener ends in a win over the University of Ottawa Tuesday evening. Coming off an earlier pre-season close loss to Ottawa in a Rocket League Series, Marywood is looking strong in its start in the official season with a 3-1 winning series over their opponents.
In their first match of the series starters Kyle Jenkins (Kyello366) and James Marsh (JMarsh), along with captain Jacob Lutsky (Jakenator1212) lead their threesome to a 3-2 victory. Jenkins leads his team this round with 1 goal and 2 assists, with Marsh scoring 2 goals off those assists.
The following match sees Marsh scoring 5 goals, 1 assist, and 2 saves. Fellow teammates Lutsky and Jenkins also put up impressive numbers, with Lutsky scoring 3 goals of his own along with 2 assists, and Jenkins putting up 1 goal, 2 assists, and 1 save. The Pacers only allowed 1 goal through the game, ending the second round in a 9-1 victory.
In their third game of the series, the threesome is downed 1-2. With a combined total of seven shots taken, only one made it through, with Ottawa making 3 saves and several failing to land.
With the closing game, the Pacers took to a shot heavy offensive, overwhelming Ottawa with a 10-1 victory. Marsh leads his team with 4 goals, 3 assists, and 2 saves. Lutsky and Jenkins follow closely with a respective 3 goals with 2 assists and 3 goals with 1 save. The team took a combined 20 shots, with only 6 being saved by Ottawa, and 4 falling off target.
The Pacers look to face Clark Summit University next Tuesday evening, Sept. 28th.
