Genter Ties School Record with Eight-Point Night; Pacers Stretch Win Streak to Four

Scranton, Pa. — Angie Genter tied the Marywood University field hockey single-game points record in a 5-1 victory over Delaware Valley University on Tuesday night. The Pacers stretch their winning streak to four games.

With a hand in all five of Marywood's goals, Genter finished with three goals and two assists for eight points. She doubled her career high for a single game. Genter becomes just the second Marywood field hockey student-athlete to record eight points in a single game, and it is the fifth time the record has been matched.

Marywood (6-3) won its 17th consecutive victory on its home turf. The Pacers have not lost at home since the 2018 regular season finale versus Misericordia University.

Lauren Youngken finished with a pair of assists. Both Cydney Lahr and Mackenzie Hoats found the back of the cage for the Pacers.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Yohn notched four saves in a winning effort.

The Pacers and Aggies played to a scoreless first period. Yohn kept DelVal at bay with a pair of saves off of penalty corners within a 17-second span. She stopped a shot in the early goings of the second quarter and received much-appreciated assistance from the post on a Jess Dixon attempt.

Genter put the Pacers on the board in the 20th minute. After a Marywood shot boinked off the crossbar, the Pittsburgh native blasted a shot off of a scramble on a penalty corner in front of goal.

Just over three minutes later, Genter doubled the Pacers' lead, redirecting a Youngken feed to take a 2-0 advantage.

Both teams were scoreless again in the third period with the Aggies' Erin Murray making a defensive save to keep Genter from getting her first career hat trick.

A barrage of goals colored the fourth quarter. Lahr deflected a Genter cross from the left side to take a 3-0 advantage in the 48th minute. Thirty-four seconds later, Delaware Valley's Gillian Nardelli added a goal via a penalty corner from Dixon. In the 50th minute, Hoats drilled a shot in front of the cage on another Genter cross. Precisely two minutes later, Genter finally secured the hat trick and share of the school record with a tap-in of a Youngken assist.

Marywood tripled Delaware Valley in shots (30-10) and held on to a 21-5 advantage in attempts on target. The Pacers recorded 24 penalty corners to the Aggies' four.

The Aggies' keeper Alyssa Rudd made 15 saves.

Marywood resumes its home stand Saturday when it hosts No. 4 Kean University at 1 p.m.
