Field Hockey Slips to Ducks in Overtime Behind Genter's Two Goals

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Marywood University field hockey fell to Stevens Institute of Technology 3-2 in overtime Saturday to close the Vassar Tournament. The Pacers (0-2) dropped both games of the invitational by a lone goal in the late minutes.

Angie Genter scored both goals for the Pacers. Milana Straub added an assist for her first career point.

Stevens scored the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of the first overtime period. Lauren Smart connected on a goal from Natalie Logan.

Genter put the Pacers ahead in just the second minute of the game. Ninety-seconds after the opening whistle, Genter found the back of the cage for the Pacers' first goal of the season.

Lauren Jones responded with an assist from Aryana Muscara in the 19th minute.

In the second half, Genter regained the lead off of a Straub feed. Smart sent the game into overtime with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Stevens outshot the Pacers by a 16-12 margin. Marywood held on to a 9-6 advantage in shots on target. The Ducks doubled the Pacers in penalty corners.

Rachel Yohn finished with three saves. Her counterpart Emily Franco had seven saves.

Marywood looks for its first win on Tuesday when it hosts Elmira College in a rescheduled competition.
