Scranton, Pa. - After erasing a double-digit lead in the first half, Marywood University was unable to hold onto its momentum en route to a 66-56 loss to Neumann University Monday in Atlantic East Conference women's basketball action. The Pacers fall to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Olivia Ciullo led the Pacers for the second consecutive game with a 16-point effort. Ciullo finished 6 for 14 from the field.
Kilie Wyers provided the team with 13 points.
Savannah Purdy had 10 points to reach double digits for the 14th consecutive game.
Stephanie Klemick blocked four shots.
Neumann received a double-double from Terea Hunt with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Stewart scored 19 points.
The Knights dominated the paint, outscoring the Pacers by a 34-20 margin. Neumann out-rebounded the Pacers at a 50-33 clip. Neumann shot 36.9 percent from the field to the Pacers' 31 percent.
Neumann went ahead early thanks to an 11-point run in the first quarter. Jacqueline Wardrop made a layup just before the end of the quarter to give the Knights a 23-11 lead. Neumann's lead extended to 13 in the second quarter on a Madison Stewart jumper.
Marywood kept the Knights scoreless for a four-minute span. Meanwhile, the Pacers scored nine straight. Purdy made a jumper to even the score at 29-29 with 27 seconds remaining. Neumann tallied four points to reclaim the lead before halftime.
The Pacers took their first lead at the 8:44 mark of the third quarter. Wyers knocked down a 3-pointer to go ahead 32-31. Neumann kept Marywood scoreless until 30 seconds left in the quarter, taking an eight-point lead.
Marywood travels to Marymount on Saturday at 1 pm.
