Field Hockey Thwarted by Mighty Macs, 3-2

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University was unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit to suffer its first Atlantic East Conference field hockey loss of the season. The Pacers fell to Immaculata University 3-2 on Tuesday.
 
The Mighty Macs scored two goals in the opening period. Lauren Buckel put the Macs ahead in the ninth minute, and Gianna Gatto tapped in a goal on a penalty corner chance in the 13th minute.
  
Corrin Hasty cut the Macs' lead in half. In the 21st minute, Hasty inserted the ball and redirected a Lauren Youngken shot for a goal.
 
Immaculata went ahead 3-1 a mere 64 seconds into the second half. Gabrielle O'Brien scored on a Lauren Vandenbraak pass.
 
Marywood added a goal in the 35th minute. Angie Genter came in on the far side and tapped in a rebound off the goalkeeper's pads for goal.
 
The Pacers fell short despite doubling the Macs in shots 10-5 and holding a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Marywood had a 10-2 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Marywood heads south to take on St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday at 3 p.m.
