Field Hockey Trounces Valiants Behind Leeland's Hat Trick

Marywood will wait for Wednesday's Atlantic East slate to find its postseason seeding

Purchase, N.Y. — Amanda Leeland had a hat trick to lead Marywood University to a 5-0 victory Saturday in its Atlantic East Conference field hockey finale. The Pacers will await the rest of the Atlantic East schedule to wrap up next week to learn of its playoff seeding. 

Lauren Youngken scored the other two goals for the Pacers. Jordan Saybe, Milana Straub and Corrin Hasty finished with assists. 

Hasty added a defensive save to her assist. Aliyah Heintzelman had a defensive save. 

Rachel Yohn made a pair of stops.

After a full period of scoreless action, Leeland gave Marywood its first lead of the game on a Saybe pass on a penalty corner play in the 19th minute. 

Marywood (5-10, 3-3 Atlantic East) scored four goals in the second half. 

Youngken started the barrage of scoring in the 33rd minute. Straub dished a pass to set up Leeland's second in the 40th minute. 

In the fourth quarter, Youngken finished a Hasty pass for a 4-0 lead. Leeland had an unassisted goal in the 57th minute to notch the hat trick. 

Marywood wraps up its regular season on Wednesday evening at Susquehanna University.
