Women's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale

Pacers host AEC semifinal Nov 2

Williamsport, Pa. - Marywood University could not protect an early lead as the Pacers fell to Penn College in non-conference women's soccer action to close regular season play.

Marywood (9-6-2) had a nine-game unbeaten streak snapped with the 6-1 loss to the Wildcats. Marywood scored first and dominated the first half in shots, but could only find the back of the net the one time and trailed 2-1 at the half despite a 11-3 advantage in shots.

Brooke Longstreet scored Marywood's goal on a double assist from Kate Kollar-Dye and Josephine Sorce. But after not being able to put the Wildcats away with several more scoring chances, the Pacers gave up the equalizer with seven minutes left in the half then gave up another quick goal and found themselves down 2-1.

The second half proved no more fair to the Pacers, as they were outshot 12-4 and gave up four more goals. Cassie Johnson and Kaelynn Sheetz each had a hat trick for the hosts. Mila Elash made eight saves for the Pacers.

Marywood is the top seed heading into next week's Atlantic East Women's Soccer playoffs and will host the lowest remaining seed in the six team field on Wednesday, November 2 at 7:00 pm.
