Pacers Unable to Come Out on Top in Five-Set Dual

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University fell short in a thrilling five-set loss to New Jersey City University Thursday in non-conference volleyball action. The Pacers have one more regular season match before they begin Atlantic East Conference playoffs as a No. 4 seed.
 
The Gothic Knights won by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 27-29, 25-23, 16-14.
 
Casey Hagerstrom finished with 12 kills and a .550 attack percentage. She had five total blocks (three solo, two assisted).
 
Mikayla Meek posted 11 kills, 17 assists and eight digs. Sydney Steiner had a team-high 19 assists.
 
Defensively, Shannon Corr provided 17 digs. Donna Bostjancic totaled 16 digs, and Evangeline Kelly supplied 17 digs.
 
Libby Smith factored in with nine kills and three aces for 13 points.
 
New Jersey City was led by Brenda Gonzalez's 16 kills and Paola Toledo's 11 kills. Katrina Nguyendon had 25 digs.
 
The Gothic Knights had a 21-9 advantage in aces. Marywood recorded a .138 hitting percentage to the Knights' .120.
 
Marywood will host Oswego State on Saturday at 1 p.m. for its Senior Day.
