Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Edges Cabrini, 2-1

Scranton, Pa. - Kate Kollar-Dye scored nine minutes into the second half and Rebekah Becker made several huge saves as Marywood University defeated Cabrini University 2-1 in a rematch of last season's Atlantic East Conference Championship game.

Marywood (6-5-1, 2-0 AEC) is now winners of five straight. The Pacers got their opening goal from Riley Mulherin, who also assisted on Kollar-Dye's game-winner.

The Pacers dominated the opening half statistically, outshooting the Cavaliers 7-2. But after Mulherin opened the scoring for the Pacers in the 27th minute on an assist from Victoria Tzitizis, Cabrini equalized on their sixth corner of the half with less than two minutes to play.

Rebekah Cunningham's fifth goal of the season came on a rebound that Maggie McCay collected and slotted to her.

Early in the second half, Marywood countered yet another Cabrini corner, but this time Mulherin took the ball down the left wing and found Kollar-Dye who one-timed it home for the game-winner.

Cabrini (8-4, 1-1 AEC) had a 13-1 advantage in corners for the match, and after outshooting the Pacers 9-3 in the second half, had a 11-10 advantage in shots. Marywood held a slim 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Becker made five stops - all of which came in the second half. Becker stopped several point-blank breakaway chances and pushed a high shot from distance over the crossbar to preserve the Pacers' victory. Her counterpart Caroline Hassall also stopped five.

Marywood travels to Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday for a 4:00 pm AEC game.
