Red Hot Red Hawks Start Pins Pacers, 88-72

Trevor Seitz leads Pacers with 15 points

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University suffered its first men's basketball setback of the season in an 88-72 loss to Montclair State in front of a large, hungry crowd on Wednesday. The Pacers fall to 2-1 on the season, and the Red Hawks remain undefeated through three games. 

Trevor Seitz led the Pacers with 15 points and five assists. Jason Holman kept the Pacers afloat in the first half with eight of his 10 points, in addition to five assists. 

Brendan Franko matched him with 10 points. Mason Mendygral had nine points. 

Montclair State opened the game by making its first four shots — all beyond the arc. Marywood opened the game with the first basket, and the Red Hawks scored 14 unanswered points. Nine minutes into the game, Montclair's Steven Breeman made a 3-point to go ahead 22-4. 

Down by as many as 21, Marywood cut the deficit to 13 heading into halftime. 

Montclair's Breeman led the team with 17 points. Samur Abdullah had 13 points. Keyon Pryce scored 12 points. Mike Jackson and Kieran Flanagan both added 11 points. 

Montclair made 57.4 percent of its shots and hit 45.8 percent from 3-point range. Marywood was 45.5 percent from the field and connected on 30.4 percent from long range.
