McGee Posts First Triple-Double in Marywood History to Guide Pacers to Record Start

Marywood scores 23 straight points to open the fourth quarter

Scranton, Pa. – Abbey McGee recorded the first triple-double in Marywood University women's basketball history on Saturday. McGee's career performance lifted the Pacers to their best-ever start with a 76-57 victory over Keystone College.

McGee finished her afternoon with 19 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists. She also contributed with a team-best four steals and two blocks. McGee shot 8 of 14 from the floor, and she was just a rebound and two assists shy of the triple-double at halftime.

Just one game after teammate Jade Rolon broke her own single-game assists record, McGee set a new high bar with her 12-assist effort. Her 16 boards were a career-best for the sophomore guard.

With an 8-1 record, coach Jennifer Carleton's squad has its best record through nine games, surpassing the 2013-14 team that started with seven straight victories before squandering their next three contests. Marywood extends its winning streak to seven games.

Leading by just one point after the third quarter, Marywood outscored the Giants 22-4 in the fourth quarter.

Olivia Ciullo finished with a game-high 21 points. She added a double-double with 10 rebounds. Seventeen of her points came in the first half.

Savannah Purdy reached double figures for the eighth time in nine games. Purdy finished with 16 points with a season-best three 3-pointers. Rachel McDonald came off the best to record 10 points.

Defensively, Maddie Neiderer corralled eight rebounds in just 11 minutes of action.

Trailing by as many as 13 in the late stages of the second quarter, Keystone came out of the break with 13 consecutive points. The Giants kept Marywood scoreless for the first 5:16 of the period, and Riley Berry gave the Giants their first lead with a long-ranged shot to go ahead 43-42. A hockey-line sub of reserves plunged the Giants' streak. McDonald made a jumper in the paint to retake the lead at 44-43.

McDonald kept the Pacers afloat again with a 3-pointer to bring back the lead (47-45). After Kamiah Caraway responded with a 3-pointer of her own, Purdy hit another shot beyond the arc from a Kate Baylor assist to go ahead 50-48.

In the fourth quarter, Marywood scored 22 straight points to run away with the game. Keystone had all four of its points in the last minute of regulation.

Marywood had a 23-12 advantage in points off turnovers. Marywood had a 30-18 advantage in points in the paint.

The Pacers made 40.8 percent of their shots from the field. Marywood had one of its most productive long-range games of the season, making 38.5 of its 3-point attempts.

Keystone was led by Kwashanti Holmes' 15 points. Renata Alberici and Berry each had 12 points.

Marywood looks to lengthen its winning streak on Tuesday night against Delaware Valley University.
