Men's Basketball Thrashes Elizabethtown, 80-59

Marywood has won three of the past four versus the Blue Jays

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University recorded its most lopsided men's basketball victory over an NCAA Division III opponent this season with an 80-59 win over Elizabethtown College on Monday. The Pacers have won three of their past four over the Blue Jays over a five-season span. 

Caleb Vigil and Cole Johnson each led the Pacers with 18 points. Vigil contributed seven assists and had a 26 plus/minus rating. Johnson matched a game-high in just 20 minutes on the court with a 7 for 10 performance from the field. 

Mason Mendygral set the tone with early long-ranged shots. He finished with 11 points. Mendrygral was 3 of 6 from long distance. 

Jason Holman contributed nine points. Trevor Seitz factored in with seven rebounds. Shilo Bivins had a team-high of six rebounds. 

Elizabethtown received 17 points from Rance Russo. 

Thanks to four 3-pointers, Marywood (5-5) jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the opening 4:30 of regulation. Mendygral had back-to-back threes to start the contest, and Vigil hit the Pacers' third 3-pointer in the first three minutes. Elizabethtown (4-4) cut the lead to single digits just before the half, and Holman made a jumper from Seitz to head into the break with an 11-point lead. 

Marywood dominated the Blue Jays off the glass by a 49-29 margin. The Pacers were 12 of 32 (37.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Marywood shot 50.8 percent from the field and held Etown to 37.3 percent. 

The Pacers host Widener University on Thursday at 6 p.m.
