Esports Season Ends Against Rival King's, Champlain

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University ended its esports fall season with first round playoff losses to King's College and Champlain College in the NECC postseason. The third-seeded Pacers fell to the Monarchs 3-2 in Rocket League, and they suffered a 3-0 loss to the Beavers in Overwatch.

Rocket League: Marywood 3, King's 2

Game 1: King's started out the series playing very aggressive but Marywood kept strong and was able to hold their ground and put up four goals. King's was able to come back with two goals of their own late but Marywood held them off and took a 4-2 game 1 win.

Game 2: Game 2 started out with both teams holding each other to zero goals. Marywood striked first at the halfway point but Kings evens the score soon after. James Marsh scored a clutch double tap to go up late and an additional goal gives Marywood the 3-1 game 2 win.

Game 3: King's turned the table in game 3 as they put pressure on and forced Marywood to give up a goal early then secures a late goal to give them a 2-0 game 3 win.

Game 4: King's ride the momentum of game 3 and keep the pressure on to get another early goal. They kept the pressure on to then secure another couple goals to hold off Marywood's one goal to get a 3-1 King's win.

Game 5: Game 5 started out close but King's led the scoring effort and held off Marywood to take the series in a reverse sweep to advance to the semi finals.

Marywood defeated Eastern College in its regular season finale.

Overwatch: The Pacers' Overwatch team fell to Champlain College in three matches. Marywood took two vital victories over Southern New Hampshire and SUNY Oneonta both perfect sweeps in 3-0 fashion. The team has improved their target calling and control of zoning to a high degree, resulting in stronger engagements which ultimately won them both series.

Marywood's League of Legends team failed to win a game in eight weeks of the regular season.
