Pacers Dish Out Record Assists to Tie Program-Best Start

Jade Rolon breaks her own single-game assists record

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University matched its best women's basketball start through eight games with a 90-50 victory over SUNY Delhi on Tuesday. The Pacers smashed the school record for most assists in a single game. 

The Pacers shattered the previous mark by nine, dishing out 37 assists against the Broncos. Marywood had previously recorded 28 assists on five occasions, most recently in the Pacers' win over Gwynedd Mercy last season. 

Marywood's 37 tie for the seventh-most in NCAA Division III history. Coincidentally, it matches a mark achieved by New York University against the Pacers in the 2018 ECAC playoffs. The Pacers had assists on 92.5 percent of their field goals.

Jade Rolon broke her own single-game school record with 11 assists. She currently holds the top three assists performances in Marywood history. Rolon had 10 in against Immaculata University in 2020 and nine versus Penn State Hazleton in 2021. She also had five steals.

With an 7-1 record, the Pacers tied the 2013-14 team for the best record through eight games. Marywood won its first seven games in 2013-14 before falling to Delaware Valley University, No. 3 Amherst College and Eastern Connecticut State in consecutive games.
 
Marywood had five players scoring in double figures. Olivia Ciullo scored 19 points with eight rebounds. Savannah Purdy, Rachel McDonald and Emmersen Peel each provided 11 points. It marked career highs for both McDonald and Peel. 

Abbey McGee came shy of becoming the first Marywood player with a triple-double. McGee had 10 points, eight assists and eight rebounds in 22 minutes on the court. 

Marywood shot 54.8 percent from the field on 40 of 73 shooting. It held the Broncos to 35.6 percent. 

The Pacers are idle until after finals when they welcome Keystone College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
