Men's Lacrosse Falls to Scranton, Suffers First Loss of the Season

Scranton, Pa. — Senior goalkeeper Connor Reed broke his own single-game school goalkeeper saves record on Wednesday. Marywood University kept the University of Scranton close for the first quarter before the Royals took off for a 20-5 defeat Wednesday in men's lacrosse.

Reed was masterful in goal with 29 saves. He added nine ground balls and caused turnover.

John Scibello picked up where he left off with a four-goal effort. Scibello added five ground balls.

Aiden Kilkenny finished with a goal, and Thomas Carroll had the team's lone assist.

At the faceoff-x, Nick Ericson won 15 of 27 with seven ground balls. Seth Croll and Logan Sanders each contributed five ground balls. Cam Hallett caused a pair of turnovers.

Scranton went ahead 1-0 on a Matthew McAcree tally from a Finn Dulgnan assist. Marywood evened the score at the 7:35 mark when Scibello picked up a cross-field loose ball that neither team was able to corral and fired it into the net. The Royals closed out the first quarter with goals from Christopher Crapanzano (4:40) and Mitchell Kozak (:07).

Scranton doubled the Pacers in shots (72-36). The Royals had a 56-46 advantage in ground balls. Marywood won the majority (15-12) faceoffs.

Marywood will open its home schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 23 versus Wilkes at 6 p.m.
