Doubles Wins Lead Women's Tennis in 6-3 Victory at King's

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - Marywood University women's tennis took all three doubles matches from host King's College as the Pacers (4-7) defeated the Monarchs 6-3 in non-conference action at Kirby Park.

Lyndsey Medric and Elsa Kovatch earned an 8-2 win at three-doubles to earn the Pacers' first points of the day, and Allison Bashore along with one-singles partner Gabriella Nowak won 8-4. In a tight two-doubles matchup, Marywood's duo of Karah Laboranti and Faith Kendricks won a tiebreaker 7-0, giving them an 8-7 win over Braelan Drollai and Sarah Stettler. 

Kendricks put Marywood up 4-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brianna Moroco at three singles before Nowak closed the victory with the fifth point for the Pacers. Nowak defeated Kenia 7-5, 6-3 to give Marywood a 5-0 lead.

King's would get wins at one (Atkins over Bashore, 6-0, 6-2), four (Morano over Medric, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4), and six singles (Jackie Costello over Kayla Flyte, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8). 

Laboranti was victorious in her five-singles match against Hailey D'Amato, 6-1, 7-5. 

Marywood opens Atlantic East Conference play Sunday when they host Immaculata University at 1:00 pm.
