Single-Season Records Downed by Ericson, Scibello in Atlantic East Victory

Matt Manna records a hat trick

Scranton, Pa. — A pair of Marywood University men's lacrosse single-season records were broken Wednesday in the Pacers' 11-5 win over Gwynedd Mercy University. The Pacers secure their first double-digit win season since 2015.
 
John Scibello set Marywood's points record with a goal and three assists. His four points increase his single-season total to 74 points, beating Dylan Swope's 2015 record of 71. Scibello has scored 41 points and 33 assists in his first collegiate season. He is also put himself into a three-way tie with Rob Maini and Matt Casto (both 2017) for the single-season goals record. He also finished with a season-high six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Nick Ericson set the single-season record for faceoff wins. Ericson, who already beat the ground balls record earlier this year, won 12 of 20 (60%) of his faceoffs to defeat Riley Litman's 2017 record. Ericson has 217 faceoff wins and 162 ground balls in his first campaign with the Pacers. Eric finished with 13 ground balls and a caused turnover.
 
Marywood wasted no time dismantling the Griffins with six unanswered goals in the opening 11 minutes.
 
Matt Manna finished with a hat trick with two ground balls. Dalton Metzger tallied a goal and an assist with four ground balls.
 
A trio of Pacers came off the bench to have multi-point outing. Dillon Kane and Zach Saneman each garnered two goals and an assist. Kieran Scanlan totaled a goal and an assist.
 
Defensively, Thomas Carroll and Tyler Wren each caused two turnovers. They finished with four and three ground balls, respectively.
 
Connor Reed notched his ninth win of the season with 10 saves. Gwynedd Mercy goalkeeper Aubron Swartley also stopped two-thirds of the shots on goal with 22 saves.
 
Marywood (10-5, 3-2 AEC) outshot the Griffins by a 55-27 margin. The Pacers failed just one clear. Marywood had a 46-26 advantage in ground balls.
 
The Pacers welcome Neumann University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a pivotal Atlantic East Conference showdown.
