Marywood Falls to Saints, Qualifies for AEC Tourney

Scranton, Pa. - Visiting Marymount University (Va.) defeated Marywood University 8-1 in Atlantic East Conference men's tennis action Saturday afternoon. 

The Saints (6-6, 5-0 AEC) clinched the #1 seed in the upcoming AEC post-season tournament. Marywood (3-6, 2-3 AEC) still qualified for tournament despite the loss. The Pacers will be the #3 via tiebreaking procedures after Marywood, Cabrini and Immaculata all finished at 2-3 in the league.

Marymount jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The Saints won #1 and #2 doubles matches by scores of 8-0. At #3 doubles, Hunter Talipski and Trey Watson put up a valiant effort but fell to Emmanual Achu and Lwazi-Enno Rennert, 8-4.

In singles play, Watson managed the Pacers' lone win of the afternoon at #6 singles as he defeated Achu 6-4, 6-4.

The start time of Wednesday's semifinal match at #2 Neumann will be announced early this week.
