Pacers Sent to OT for Second Straight Game, Fall to Neumann in Thriller

Alaina Brenneman, Ashley Cunningham have career bests

Aston, Pa. – Marywood University played in its second overtime game in four days, falling 13-12 to Neumann University in Atlantic East Conference women's lacrosse action. With a game in hands, the Pacers close out their Atlantic East slate in a three-way tie for fourth through sixth places.
 
Neumann scored the game-tying and -winning goals in the last minute of regulation and overtime, respectively.
 
Alaina Brenneman set a career high with seven points. Brenneman scored five goals and two assists. She added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Ashley Cunningham had her first career hat trick. Kayla McCabe and Emma Solomon each had two-goal games.
 
In net, Emily Dyminski made 12 saves. Her counterpart Catriona Corrigan stopped 11 shots.
 
Neumann's Lindsey Fagan scored nine times with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Like the men's game between the same two schools, neither team had more than a one goal advantage until late in the third quarter. Cunningham tallied an unassisted goal with 57 seconds remaining in the period to take a 9-7 lead.
 
Neumann's Reilly Fiedler and Fagan tied the game soon after. The teams traded leads the rest of regulation. Cunningham scored an unassisted goal with 2:55 left to take a 12-11 lead. Fagan found the back of the net on a Maggie Blemings pass with 17 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
 
Blemings won the game with 56 seconds left in the first overtime period. Brylin Adams fed the assist on a woman-down chance.
 
Marywood closes its regular season on Tuesday, April 26 at 5 p.m. on its home turf. The Pacers will await the rest of the Atlantic East schedule to close out before learning of its playoff seeding.
