Pacers Led by Straub, Gaines at Widener

Chester, Pa. — Marywood University freshman Milana Straub notched a fifth-place finish in the 5K this weekend at Widener University. Straub was one of two Pacers to finish with No. 2 performances in the women's track and field record book.

Straub finished fifth of 38 runners with a 19:04.55. She surpassed Bre Latourette for the second-best 5K time in program history.

Likewise, Hayley Gaines also recorded the second-best time in the 800. Gaines completed two laps in 2:27.68, beating her PR by six seconds, for 10th place.

Maryam Hamidi ran the fourth-best finish for a Marywood runner in the 200 dash. She was 19th in 27.5 seconds. Hamidi also took 15th place in the 400 in 1:04.08.

Marywood's 4x100 relay of Awnshae Smith, Madi Howell, Chesna Andrade-Foster and Hamidi came in third in 53.89 seconds. The 4x400 relay of the same group ran a season-best 4:22.18 for seventh place.

Other Pacers that achieved personal records included:

Alyssa Williams beat her 5K PR from last year's Atlantic East Championships by five seconds (21:00).
Maria Castaldi shaved a half-minute off her PR from two weeks ago for a career-best 5K of 21L24.
Caitlyn Powell ran seven seconds better than her 5K best for a time of 21:44.
Madi Howell ran the 400 for the first time in 1:06.62.
Emma Wagner took off 69-hundredths of a second off her 100 hurdles run to finish in 20.06 seconds.
Daelyn Karboski increased her long jump distance for the second consecutive week, measuring at 14-10.75 (4.54m)
Gabriella Pimentel tossed a hammer 54 feet, 6 inches (16.61m) to beat her career best by 8 inches.

Marywood will compete next Tuesday at Misericordia University.
