Women's Soccer Draws at Eastern

St. David's, Pa. - Marywood University's Victoria Tzitzis broke open a scoreless game early in the second half but host Eastern University equalized less than three minutes later as the Pacers and Eagles battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon outside Philadelphia.

Marywood (1-2-1) controlled much of the first half, getting several dangerous looks and out-shooting the hosts 7-4 in the frame (4-2 on goal).  Eastern's Brooke Moskey made one brilliant reflex save on the line and a defender cleared a header from Brooke Longstreet on a corner kick to keep the game scoreless.

Early in the second half, Marywood pressed further. Tzitzis was brought down inside the box but no foul was awarded and play continued. Moments later, Tztizis would get her own revenge, stealing a pass and beating one defender before making a move around Moskey and finishing into an open net.

Tzitzis now leads the Pacers with four goals on the season.

Despite several other looks, Marywood would not score again. Eastern tied things up nearly three minutes after the Pacers' goal when they found a seam in the Marywood back line and got a bending equalizer from Madelyn Mullen.

Marywood held an 18-10 advantage in shots (9-7 on goal) and had a 4-1 advantage in corners. The Pacers got six stops from Rebekhah Becker in the tie. Moskey finished with a game-high eight saves for the Eagles (0-3-1).

Marywood is on the road again Tuesday as they travel to Lancaster to take on Franklin and Marshall College, who is "receiving votes" in the national poll.
