Volleyball Splits at Lycoming Tri-Match

Marywood averts two-set setback with 30-28 win in second

Williamsport, Pa. - Marywood University earned a split at the Lycoming Quad Meet on Saturday. The Pacers defeated Keystone College 3-1 and loss to the host Warriors in three sets. 

Marywood defeated Keystone by scores of 22-25, 30-28, 25-8, 25-22. Lycoming defeated the Pacers by scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.

After falling behind with a first-set loss, Marywood had a key 30-28 win in the second to even the score. The two teams jostled for the lead throughout the match. Shannon Corr tallied a kill to take a 29-28 lead. On Sydney Steiner's serve, Pacers earned the victory on an attack error. 

Marywood had a commanding lead in the third set, thanks to three consecutive points scored by Emily O'Brien on two kills and a block. 

Karli Boyer clinched the match point with a kill. 

Corr finished with a game-high 18 points. She had 13 kills, three solo blocks and two aces. O'Brien tallied 11 kills with a .375 attack percentage. Libby Smith reached double figures with 10 kills. 

Mikayla Meek added 24 assists, four aces and 11 digs. Steiner had 15 assists. 

Defensively, Donna Bostjancic totaled 20 digs. 

Marywood accounted for a .157 attack percentage. The Giants were even. 

The Giants' Hailey Herneisey finished with 14 digs. 

Lycoming 3, Marywood 0

Meek led the Pacers with eight kills and a .333 attack percentage. Steiner garnered 13 assists and eight digs. 

Lycoming's Jessica Ahart and Elizabeth Kelson picked up nine kills. Kendall Myers made 21 digs. 

Marywood plays SUNY Delhi on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Insalaco Arena.
