Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University fell to undefeated University of Scranton 4-0 Tuesday in non-conference field hockey. The Royals tallied three goals in the second quarter, and both teams played to a scoreless second half.
Bridget Abraldes opened the scoring in the third minute as she backhanded a shot past the Pacers' Joby Wojton for the early 1-0 lead. Abraldes struck again in the 20th minute as she collected a loose ball in front of the cage after a feed from Reagan Dolan and poked it home for her second goal of the night.
Scranton extended the lead to 3-0 in the 23rd minute when Dolan's blast from the top of the circle off a penalty corner was tipped in front by Elle Collins for her first goal of the season. Just over five minutes later, Katie Redding ocketed a shot past Wojton to make it a 4-0 game and notch her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Marywood tallied five shots over the final two quarters, but the Royals' defense held strong and Kiera Lamb kept the Pacers off the scoreboard with a defensive save in the 55th minute following a shot by Lauren Youngken.
Making her first career start in goal, Wojton made a pair of saves.
Marywood (1-3) will welcome Keystone College on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
