Meek's Big Night Not Enough to Carry Pacers In Five-Set Marathon

Mikayla Meek ties for second-most single-match assists in school history

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — Mikayla Meek produced the third-most single-match assists in Marywood University women's volleyball history as the Pacers fell short 3-2 to King's College on Thursday. The Pacers fell to the Monarchs by scores of 15-25, 26-24, 25-20, 26-28, 15-9. 

Meek finished with 51 assists. Her performance ranks behind Kelly Chadwick '15 (53) and Sara Burgos '22 (52) in the program record book. She ranks tied with Chadwick for the second-most assists in a five-set match. Meek contributed 14 digs, four block assists and three aces.

Casey Hagerstrom led the Pacers with a team-best .293 attack percentage. She had 15 kills and just three errors on 41 attempts. Hagerstrom tacked on six total blocks (two solo-four assist). 

Shannon Corr finished with a team-best 18 kills. She added 16 digs and two aces. 

Libby Smith recorded six aces and nine kills. Emily O'Brien had nine kills. 

Defensively, Sydney Steiner assumed the libero position with 24 digs. 

King's received 10 kills from Kayla Sondberg and Joy Kindall. Morgan Williams provided 33 digs. 

Marywood (4-4) outperformed the Monarchs in points (82-65), kills (60-48), aces (15-11), blocks (7-6) and assists (56-44). 

The Pacers look to get back into a winning record on Saturday at the Elizabethtown Tri-match. The Pacers will take on Hood College and the host Blue Jays.
