Women's Soccer Slips to Kean, 3-1

Josie Sorce nets first goal of the season

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University was unable to get out of an early deficit in a 3-1 loss to Kean University Wednesday in non-conference women's soccer action. The Pacers came short despite outshooting the Cougars. 

Marywood out-shot the Cougars by a 25-21 margin, although Kean had a 15-10 advantage in shots on goal. Kean led the Pacers 11-2 in corner kicks. 

Josephine Sorce scored her first goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Victoria Tzitzis delivered a pass through the Cougars' back line to set up Sorce's scoring chance. 

Rebekah Becker came two short of a season-high with 12 saves. 

In the 11th minute, Sophia Lang put the Cougars on the board. Gracia Casais served a cross from the right perimeter, and Lang converted her second of the year from 19 yards away. 

Rebecca Zahner and Renee Rocha both scored for Kean in the 37th and 48th minutes, respectively. 

Marywood looks to get back into the win column Saturday at Alvernia University.
