Men's Basketball Unable to Get Past Griffins

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Marywood University came out on the losing end of a 95-82 decision at Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference men's basketball action. The Griffins went on a 22-5 run to break open the game in the second half. 

The Pacers had four players in double figures. Brendan Franko led the team for the third straight game with 14 points, and he has made more than 80 percent of his shots during that span. Jason Holman recorded 12 points. Brandon Reed had 11 points, and Caleb Vigil finished with 10 points. 

Gwynedd Mercy's Manny Clark scored 38 points on 14 of 19 shooting. JoHann Vinson came off the bench to score 21 points. DJ Johnson finished with 16. 

Both teams shot over 88 percent from the free-throw line. 

Marywood will host Cabrini University on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. The Pacers will host a Play for Joey Day game to raise funds for the Joey Monaghan scholarship fund at Pennsbury High School. A former men's basketball alumnus, Monaghan passed away from an aggressive cancer this September.
