Marywood Women Beat Gallaudet in Halted Tri-Meet with Cabrini

Washington, D.C. – Marywood University earned a women's swimming victory over Gallaudet University Saturday in a tri-meet. The Pacers defeated the Bison (89-77) and lost to Cabrini University (123-60). The Pacers men were swept by Gallaudet (101-49) and the Cavaliers (100-28).

The Pacers women took first place in four events. Senior Maggie Davis notched an event win in the 50-yard Backstroke with a time of 33.16 seconds. Sophomore Sabrina Zieger won the 500-yard Freestyle, finishing in 5 minutes and 59.02 seconds. Freshman Aubrey Mangan took first place in both the 50- and 100-yard Breaststroke events, finishing with times of 36.51 seconds and 1:19.36, respectively. The sole event victory for the Pacers men came on the back of sophomore Dylan Hervieux, who finished in first place in the 50-yard Backstroke with a time of 26.33 seconds.

The meet was called off when Gallaudet University's campus lost power to its campus right after 3 p.m. on Saturday. The swim meet had just completed the 23rd event out of 28. The five events that did not take place were the men's 50-yard butterfly, the 100-yard IM events, and the 200-yard freestyle relay races.

The head coaches and officials for the meet gathered a short while after the Washington, D.C. campus lost power and decided to end the meet due to the unknown of when Gallaudet will get power back on campus and travel time for the Marywood and Cabrini teams. The emergency lights were on in the pool area but did not provide enough light to safely complete the full meet. All of the head coaches were accepting of the final results.

Marywood will conclude its regular season next week against Moravian University.
