Radnor, Pa. -- Marywood field hockey traveled down to Cabrini University to take on the Cavaliers this afternoon. In come-from-behind fashion, the Pacers pulled out a 4-2 victory and improved to 10-3 on the season, and 2-0 in conference play. Cabrini fell to 6-6 overall, and 1-2 in conference.
The Cavaliers opened up the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game, when Molly McGee found the back of the cage to put Cabrini up early.
In the 4th minute, Caroline Gallagher scored another Cavalier goal, assisted by Adrianna Jones, and just like that, the Pacers found themselves in a 2-0 hole, a mere four minutes into play.
Marywood didn't allow the early deficit to deter them, however. In the 12th minute of play,
Jordan Saybe was able to get the Pacers on the board with an unassisted tally, cutting the Cabrini lead to one.
In the 18th minute,
Brie Sumner placed a pass from
Cydney Lahr past the Cabrini keeper, evening up the match at 2-2.
Just three minutes later, in the 21st minute,
Cydney Lahr scored a goal of her own, shortly after her assist a few minutes prior. The Lahr goal put the Pacers up 3-2 and gave them their first lead of the day.
In the 33rd minute,
Dariane Jones found an open
Brie Sumner who bolstered the Marywood lead with their fourth and final score. This was Sumner's second goal of the game.
The Pacers were able to out-shoot the Cavaliers 17-15 total, and 11-7 in shots on goal.
Leah Ewing recorded five saves for Marywood, while Cabrini keeper, Courtney Keith, recorded seven.
The Cavaliers did win the penalty corner contest, 14-6.
The Pacers look to continue their winning streak on Saturday, as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University to take on the Griffins.
