Late Goals Down Pacers In Conference Match

Hackettstown, NJ — The Marywood men's soccer team traveled down to Centenary University to face off with the Cyclones, where they would fall 2-1, and drop to 5-8 (0-2 AEC) overall. Centenary improved to 1-10 (1-2 AEC) with the victory.

With little occurring offensively from both sides to start, the match went into half time, tied at zero. The stalemate lasted a good while after the half as well, until Marywood finally broke through.

In the 74th minute of play, Danny Gomez was able to find an open Matt Laudenslager, who buried the pass into the back of the net, breaking the tie and putting the Pacers on the board first.

The lead didn't last long though, as Centenary's Andres Casanova was able to even the score at 1-1 in the 78th minute. The tally was set up by an assist from Kevin Lopez.

Shortly there-after, the Cyclones pulled ahead 2-1 with another score in the 84th minute. Lopez picked up another assist, this time in a goal scored by Ohene Yiadom.

The Pacers were able to out-shoot the Cyclones, with six of 15 total shots being on goal, compared to Centenary's four shots on goal, out of 13 total.

Marywood also won the corner kick battle with six chances, while Centenary had four.

Niko Leibkuchler got the start in net today for the Pacers, where he recorded two saves.

Centenary keeper, Kevin Velasquez Mejia, recorded five saves of his own.

Marywood looks to rebound on Saturday as they host Cabrini.
