Women's Soccer Shut Out Cabrini, 1-0

Elash records second consecutive clean sheet

Radnor, Pa. — Marywood University got the best of Cabrini University on a wet and chilly Saturday afternoon in Radnor. The Pacers came away with a 1-0 win against their rival Cavaliers. Marywood improves to 6-5-2 (2-0-1 AEC) while Cabrini falls to 4-6-2 (2-1-1 AEC).

After a scoreless first half, the Pacers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 47th minute. The beautiful tally was scored by Riley Mulherin, who settled an excellent set-up pass from Julia Rodriguez from the Pacers' side of the midline

The early second-half goal was the one and only of the match for either side.

Marywood was able to out-shoot the Cavaliers 12-7, with eight shots on goal, compared to Cabrini's five.

The Cavaliers won the corner kick battle 5-3.

Mila Elash recorded five saves in net for the Pacers, as well as her second consecutive shutout.

Cabrini keeper, Caroline Hassall, recorded seven saves of her own.

Marywood's win improves its record to 8-16-8 in the series history. Since 2007, the two teams are an even 7-7-6 against each other. The Pacers have not lost to the Cavaliers in four contests with two consecutive wins.

The Pacers will host the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University for their next match on Wednesday.
