Late Goal Results in a 2-2 Draw Against Griffins

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - The Marywood University men's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw against Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday. The tie brings the Pacers' overall record to 6-8-1 (1-2-1 AEC), and the Griffins are now 3-6-6 (1-2-1 AEC). 

Marywood got on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute, when Matt Laudenslager capitalized on a long Jayce Wilson pass, heading the beautiful ball into the back of the net, to grab the 1-0 early lead. 

The lead held until the 51st minute, when the Griffins evened the score at 1-1. Hugh Lynch recorded the Gwynedd Mercy tally, assisted by Mike Fienman. 

In the 66th minute of the match, the Pacers were able to regain the lead, 2-1. Nolan Kozera scored on a fast break, deking the keeper and finishing into the back of the open net. 

As time dwindled, the Griffins were able to grab a late goal and tie up the match yet again, this time at 2-2. Cole Costello netted the goal off of a corner kick from Braedon Kehan in the 89th minute. 

Marywood tallied 26 total shots, while Gwynedd Mercy had 15. 

Thirteen of the Pacer shots were on goal, compared to the Griffins' seven. 

Gwynedd Mercy won the corner kick battle 5-4. 

Alex Russo recorded five saves for the Pacers, while Griffins' keeper, John Wagner, recorded 11. 

Marywood hosts Marymount University on Saturday at 3pm for its next matchup.
