Pacers Take Command in Victory Over Colonels

Lahr and Youngken each score a pair in 5-1 win

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University field hockey team ousted Wilkes University 5-1 on Monday. Marywood improves to 7-3 on the season, while Wilkes drops to 6-5 on the season. 

Cydney Lahr finished with two goals and two assists for her third five-plus point game of the season. Lauren Youngken finished with two goals. 

In the 12th minute, Lahr opened up the scoring, winning a free ball and pushing a shot past the keeper. Marywood wasted no time building on the lead. Lauren Younken put a pass from Lahr into the back of the cage in the 14th minute, fresh off of a penalty corner. 

Lahr continued her dominance with yet another goal — this one coming in the 49th minute. The Pacers' 3-0 lead was the result of a fast break for the Pacers. 

The Colonels did not go away easily as Anmarie LeBron ended the shutout with a score in the 53rd minute off of a penalty corner. 

Marywood responded with a goal of their own in the 55th minute, yet again scored by Youngken, her second tally of the game.

Belle Coleman placed the cherry on top of the Pacers' victory with a goal in the 59th minute. Lahr placed the ball for earn the assist. 

Marywood led in both shots (10-6) and shots on goal (7-4). Wilkes did manage to edge the Pacers in penalty corners, 11 to 8. 

Lianna Horner recorded two saves on the day for Marywood, and Carly Eidle managed one save for Wilkes. 

Klaira Bievenour tallied a defensive save late in the game. Cortney Keim stopped a well-struck Pacers' shot for a defensive save for Wilkes. 

The Pacers travel to DeSales University on Wednesday for their next match.
