Field Hockey Dazzles Against DeSales in 2-1 Victory

Two goals in the first half secures win

Center Valley, Pa. – The Marywood University field hockey team triumphed with a 2-1 win over DeSales University on Wednesday. The Pacers held on to a first-half lead to secure their eighth win of the year. 

Dariane Jones finished with a goal and an assist. Cydney Lahr had a goal, and Cassie Slusser notched an assisti.

The Pacers came back from one goal down to capture the win. DeSales scored first in the 14th minute as Maddie Trocki scored unassisted.

Marywood tied the game in the 18th minute when Slusser passed to Jones who was able to place the ball in the corner of the cage.

The Pacers took the lead in the 30th minute when Jones made a beautiful pass to Lahr. She was able to beat the Bulldog keeper, one on one, to put Marywood ahead 2-1.

Slusser rejected a ball out of the defensive circle to secure the victory. 

Marywood outperformed the Bulldogs in shots, 18-15; shots on goal, 9-8; and penalty corners, 15-8. 

The Pacers netminder Leah Ewing tallied eight saves in her return to the cage. Her counterpart Kayla Yeatman recorded seven. 

The Pacers will look to keep this momentum when they host Manhattanville on Saturday.
